BackStreet Browser is a free offline browser for Microsoft Windows.
This software allows to download and view websites. When downloading BackStreet Browser is making multiple simultaneous server requests and can quickly download the entire website or parts of a website including HTML, graphics, Java Applets, sound, etc. It saves all the files on your hard drive as a ZIP file or in their native format. The whole process allows to view sites offline.
The site will be downloaded as a complete copy of the original site and the user is able to view it without connecting to the Internet. This feature also allows to make site backups or transfer sites to another server. If the connection is lost during the process BackStreet Browser can resume the download after the connection is reestablished. Downloaded sites can also be updated if the original sites have changed.
The software has gained positive reviews from two sites: filehungry.com and softlandmark.com.[1] [2] According to Mark Aberdour of Opensourcetesting.org, it violates the robots.txt standard.[3]
